Bodum Columbia Thermal 48-Ounce Stainless-Steel Coffee Press With FREE Bodum 8-Ounce Travel Coffee Press with Mini Picture Insert
Product Description:
Amazon.com Review Most coffee roasters and tea buyers recommend using a coffee or tea press to enjoy the beverages at their best, but the devices have typically offered one major disadvantage--the brewed coffee or tea cooled quickly within the glass carafe. The Bodum Columbia thermal press overcomes this shortcoming with its double-walled stainless-steel construction, which insulates hot coffee or tea to keep it warm for up to two hours. The end result is a rich, flavorful beverage with perfectly extracted flavors and aromas. To use the Columbia press for coffee, grind fresh beans to a coarse consistency, add 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water, then add hot water and brew for four to five minutes before plunging the press. Tea brews in the same manner, but with whole tea leaves instead. The press holds up to 48 ounces of liquid--enough for 12 small cups of coffee (4 ounces each)--and features Bodum's patented safety lid to keep the contents from spilling. For best results, users should dedicate the press to brewing one beverage only, as coffee and tea flavors tend to cross over when brewed separately in the same vessel. The Columbia coffee and tea press is dishwasher-safe.

Product Description
The new Columbia line combines stunning elegance of form with the best materials for perfect function. The double-walled stainless steel thermal press keeps your coffee or tea hot for more wake-up calls than you'll ever need. The Columbia thermal press holds 12 cups.

Super Impressed - Fast, Easy, and Tasty!
My guy and I LOVE this little machine. It heats up water very quickly (something we used to rely on our Sunbeam Teadrop to do, before it took on an awful flavor after awhile) which is great to use for things like instant cream of wheat and oatmeal in the morning, not just coffee and tea!

The K-cups are amazing in taste; I was a barista (coffee slinger - think gal behind the counter of a starbucks) for three years and I ground the beans fresh every morning. I haven't smelled or tasted anything close to the coffee I used to make there in any commercial setup until now. The K-cups keep their contents fresh and tasty, and there's no messy leakage from the pod when you take it back out.

There is a loud WHIRRRR for about 5-10 seconds after the cup is brewed as the machine takes in more water, but it's no worse than any other countertop appliance, in my opinion. Unless you have cats that scare easily or a grumpy hubby that sleeps in when you're getting ready in the morning, I don't see it being an issue.

Stays clean, performs well, and it's super-quick if you'd rather hit the snooze button than get up and make coffee. You can even set it to turn on in the morning :)

In the interest of full disclosure, someone was throwing this out in our apartment complex, so we figured what the hey, we'll check it out. No water was coming out, even though the machine was whirring, buzzing, screen was showing up - all systems go except water through the brew spout. My fiance tinkered with it and ended up pinching the small rubber valve that extends into the water tank, forcing the water to "flush" out the lines. A vinegar rinse run-through, a coffee maker cleaner powder run-through, and voila - worked like a brand new machine. If you have issues with yours...don't rely on the customer service line; educate yourself in online forums and try the things I described above before plunking down $$ on another!

This Thing Drives Me Nuts!!!!!!
I got this as a mother's day gift because my old Mr. Coffee was leaking. The Keurig makes me want to scream. For the last week I have followed the directions to the word and it won't work. It takes a minimum 4 tries to get a cup of coffee. I'm not really happy with the coffee either, there is a strong plastic taste to the drink. I thought that would go away after awhile. The other drawback is I can't find the K cups at any of the grocery stores, Sears carries them - yuck or mail order. I'm putting it back in the box and getting a regular coffee pot. Sorry fam I know you thought it was cool.

Watery Coffee
The Keurig is easy to use but the coffee is watery. I even have the little plastic filter attachment so you can brew your own coffee. I stuff that with 2 1/2 tbls. of coffee, set the machine to medium setting and it still turns out light. If you like watery coffee, which I imagine some do, then this is a great machine. If you like robust coffee then this is not the machine for you. I received this as a gift and returned it after one week of weak brews. I've had my neighbors test it too and they all agreed, that while it is sleek and easy to use, the coffee it brews is below par. If you think about it...taste is the most important thing right?
I think the problem with the Keurig is it shoots hot water throught the coffee packets so quickly that it doesn't have time to extract all the flavor from the grounds.
I even put this machine to the test. I brewed 1 (8 oz.) cup of coffee using the Keurig and 1 (8 oz.) cup using my generic Mr. Coffee machine.
I used 2 tbls. of ground (Melba Coffee) in each.
I used clear glass mugs so I could visually examine the difference.
Results:
Time
------
Kuerig took 40 seconds to brew from the time I hit the on button.
Mr. Coffee 3 mins from start to finish.

Strentgh
------
Kuerig was watery, light in color.

Mr. Coffee looked much darker in color.

I had to add 5 oz of clear water to the Mr. Coffee mug to make the two the exact color.

Think about that. The Keurig makes coffee 50% more watery than my
Mr. Coffee.

My car doesn't run well when there is extra water in its gasoline and I don't run well with extra water in my coffee.

Do a taste test before you plop down 0.

Oh well, back to my Mr. Coffee. Sure it takes quadruple the time but at least I enjoy the taste. Sometimes you can't rush things.

Get it, you won't regret it
My wife actually is the big coffee drinker in the house, and she loves this machine. She didn't want to get it at first, because it's non-traditional. But it was recommended by someone who is very into gourmet foods and none of the traditional coffee makers had good reviews, so she went with this one. She absolutely loves it, and we have since gotten many people onto these machines. So many that we actually started a forum called lovemykeurig.com for people to share their keurig likes/dislkes and even recipes. Get it, and you won't regret it.

Amazon.com Review:
Braun's premium AromaDeluxe takes a basic coffeemaker and adds some invaluable features. The coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups using a fast brewing method that thoroughly extracts the rich flavor and aroma from your ground coffee. The integrated Brita water filter also contributes to better-tasting coffee by screening out chlorine and other harsh minerals, plus it prevents calcification within the water tank. A marker on the top of the water tank helps you keep track of when the water filter needs to be changed. The AromaDeluxe's digital display has a clock and a brewing indicator that allows you to program the machine to brew your coffee before you get out of bed in the morning. Other handy extras on this coffeemaker include a permanent gold-tone filter; a filter release button, which swings the detachable filter basket open for filling or easy cleaning; and a Pause and Serve feature, which stops the brewing while you pour yourself a cup of coffee midway through a cycle. For safety, the glass carafe has a comfortable, nonslip handle with an open design to accommodate larger hands. This coffeemaker comes with one extra Brita water filter and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Not for the careless.
Our last KF580 just bit the dust. We looked for another in the nearby city without success. The replacement we tried didn't work out so I ordered one on Amazon.
The complaints that other reviewers have mentioned of leaking, weak and grinds in the coffee may be caused by simple carelessness. If the filter is not put in all the way than closing the filter draw will cause it to fold over. Now the water goes outside the filter and grinds will go into the coffee and into the automatic shut off. This will cause a weak coffee with grinds. The coffee maker will leak from then on until the grinds are removed from the valve. The grinds are easily removed by holding the filter holder under running tap water while holding the valve open with a finger on the valve lever.

Great Hot Coffee!
A great combination of premium and budget coffee makers. It brews great coffee b/c it brews hot, and it is super simple to operate. The carafe works well, though if you poor too much at one time, it will spill a bit. But this is generally not a problem. Also, directions for clock/automatic settings is printed conveniently on the inside of water reservoir lid.

I have 2 but won't get a third
If luke warm coffee is your thing then this is the maker for you.

Well I bought one of these maker and one was given to me.
The positives it is easy to program and clean.
The negatives, it doesn't brew HOT coffee..

I have tried everything to make it work better thinking is was not clean enough but no it just doesn't brew hot enough Therefore it doesn't extract the best flavor from the coffee beans .
I am done with this one and need to find a coffeemaker that brews HOT COFFEE any suggestions.?????

Jasper Morrison Toaster by Rowenta Germany

The design and the company name completely fooled me.
My two toasters lasted about 18 months. One I had in a rental unit does nothing but beep, the other beeps and will, if I persist, toast, but I fear it is just a matter of time before it gives up too. I spoke to Rowenta this am. They professed ignorance of any problem with their toaster, said they no longer sell it, and if it is older than 12 months tough luck - So there it is. A once respected company, whose irons and steamer I own, but in future will look around at the competition, loses its good name. Obviously a design flaw. I feel I have been completely taken in. (Incidentally this is my first written review. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to express my opinion) Rowenta-Morrison Collection: Toaster TL 9020

lovely design, terrible function
Like many others here, our Rowenta Jasper Morrison toaster failed after about a year of light use. Because we loved the look of it so much, we paid almost to have it fixed, only to now have it fail again, after about a year. Rowenta should recall and replace all of these machine. They are worthless. What a shame.

Pretty toaster, nylon feet fell off - return toaster, no replacement parts
Pretty toaster which produces irregular results. Burns edges of thin slices of bread. Tiny nylon feet fell off during first week. Rowenta wanted me to send the toaster to their repair facility so they could glue on two 25 cent nylon feet which aren't available to the consumer. Product not being sold any more by Rowenta. Eventually they suggested that I go to a hardware store to find nylon feet that fit.

Another one bites the dust
Just like everyone else, my Rowenta toaster also failed after approximately six months of use. All I get from it is that dreadful blip sound whenever I turn it on. I also had to suffer two Jasper Morrison kettles before giving up on that too. Stay away from the Jasper Morrison line of Rowenta products. They may look cool, but they are way way too expensive for a product that functions only adequately for it's ridiculously short life span.

A triump of form over function - poor basic performance
I don't often pan a product, but at this high selling price, it doesn't begin to measure up with the most basic function of a toaster - evenly toasted bread. It produces very uneven heat across the surface of the bread with a hot band horizontally across the middle, only lightly heated on the bottom, and lightly toasted at the top. This becomes more evident at every setting greater than the lightest two. The basic design of the heating element is flawed with one hot rod extending horizontally across the center of the bread and reliance on polished reflectors behind the rod to reflect and distribute the radiant heat of that rod across the top and bottom of the bread. Instead of using small heating wires across the entire surface, as in almost every toaster since the dawn of electricity, this slick design attempts to improve on the proven and fails. Sorry, but it's been an expensive lessen in relying on a name brand - I like their irons - but, not always getting what you pay for.

Disappointed
This french press is beautiful with a gimmick, the filter that opens and closes. The design of the press makes it difficult to keep the stainless steel frame for the carafe clean of water minerals without taking it apart and upping your chances of breaking it. If you lay your plunger on a counter or table, it has the tendency to roll off. The ball on the plunger unscrewed causing difficulty threading on the flange to the filter and realignment of the filter. (My husband put it in a vice to tightened the ball enough to thread the flange on the filter.) The press is top heavy. If the ball (top unit) would roll off and drop on your toes, it might break a toe. As for the filter that open and closes, to stop brewing. Come on! I have tried it both ways..... I can't tell the difference and I have discriminating taste buds. The press is beautiful but a frustrating disaster to use and maintain. Don't buy it.

Don't buy this one
After buying this French Press I must say I'm disappointed by BonJour and most likely won't buy their products again. It's my first French Press. I was excited to say the least. But I found a few problem with this particular brand.

1. The metal casing was not very well fitted. The bending of these legs aren't even so the glass doesn't really sit in the middle. Also the metal casing holds the glass very tight. Making it impossible to replace it without either breaking it or take everything apart.

2. The press is very loose. It slides down to the bottom without you pushing it at all.

Eventially I return this and bought a Frieling Stainless Steel French Press. But I also went to Peet's coffee and looked at the Bodum ones. If you really want to get a glass one, get Bodum ones. They are much better made than Bonjour. The press part is also all metal on the Bodum ones. Consider that Bodum ones are the same price as these Bonjour ones, I see no reason anyone would buy this unless Bonjour improve their quality dramatically.

How big is a cup?
If this is an 8-cup French Press, a cup is 4 ounces. In my cooking, I have always measured items as if a cup contains 8 ounces. I have owned several sets of measuring cups and all of them have 8 ounces to a cup. But the recipe for making coffee that comes with this French Press suggests using a tablespoon of coarsely grated coffee for each cup of water. Is this an 8-ounce cup or a 4-ounce cup? This really makes a difference.
Also the directions say "Pour boiling water into the carafe within approximately 1 inch from the top of the carafe. . ." Why does it matter how far you hold the kettle from the carafe when you pour in the boiling water? Are they afraid you will spill some of it? Oh, wait, I just read the directions in the original French. I think this is just a bad translation. They probably mean to pour in the water no higher than an inch from the top!
I've never had a French press before and I had to read the instructions three times to be sure you put the coffee grounds and the water into the carafe before you put the filter assembly in.
By the way, if you search Amazon for Maximus French Press, don't accidentally order the Maximus Fitness MX532 French Press Commercial Exercise Machine for ,595.
Aside from the confusing directions, I think I like this device. You don't have to plug it in. I guess you could even take it on a backpacking trip.

My new tea maker
I am a big tea drinker. Before I purchased my French Press I used to brew one cup at a time. I tried to get two cups out of one bag so I would put my tea bag in another cup until I was ready to brew again. Since I have the French Press I brew all my tea at one time. If I want two cups I know that they will both taste the same. I can use the left over tea to make iced tea.

I really like it and it is easy to clean.

Great product
Easy to use, good quality, simple to clean. Would buy again if replacement was ever needed.

Expensive- Short lifespan
Dishwasher safe yet not for use with "Rinse Aid"... For the home user this makes for "Not really dishwasher safe" or at least it does for me. So I have used this pot every day for about a month and it has started a slow leak at the seam between the steel and plastic. This is the second Bunn plastic/steel decanter I have bought that leaks in this way. Poor design I guess.

So here is the deal. I am very unhappy with this pot and another just like it. If two out of two do this for me in less than a year, chances are they will all leak under the same conditions. I personally prefer the long life of the glass decanter over the this plastic junk. I am sure I could get replacement but I am just sick of the effort.
This purchase was depressing.
